There are so many voices clamoring for attention in the world of education. It often seems that the pendulum swings from one side of the clock to the other as theories change from year to year. The 1990s were declared to be the "Decade of the Brain", and from it comes the theories that have impacted education.  I believe brain-based education holds great possibilities not only for learning in children, but for the adult education we work with in training and development.  This site will explore those specifically related to the field of training and instructional design.

Brain-Based Learning Brain-based learning comes from many years of research into how the brain processes information.  There are strategies that enhance learning, and strategies that hamper the processing of information.  Read this section to learn more about brain-based learning concepts.
Instructional Design
The key elements of training and development hinge on the instructional design process.  Read this section to review the process currently in place.
What's the difference?

In order for learning to stick, it must be meaningful to the learner and be presented in a way that connects to previous learning experiences. This section presents several demonstrations of brain-friendly and not-so-brain-friendly presentations of information.
